WILD TONIC PRESENTS: ROBOTANISTS – MONDAYS IN FEBRUARY

with 2 comments

Big and exciting news for Wild Tonic and all my lovely readers today! I am very happy to announce that Wild Tonic – along with Overhead Records – is presenting its very first residency in February featuring Los Angeles band, Robotanists.

The LA quartet will be taking the stage at Silverlake Lounge every Monday night where they’ll be premiering brand new songs off of their latest album, Plans In Progress, in addition to offering some stellar lineups with other local LA bands every week this upcoming month!

In celebration, Wild Tonic will also be offering a few exclusive songs/offers/contests with Robotanists. Read about them (and grab a couple of MP3s) after the jump!

Here are just a few reasons why Wild Tonic is proud to present Robotanists: Mondays In February…

  • Robotanists (Sarah Ellquist, Daniel DeBlanke, Preston Scott Phillips and Keith Boyarsky) is one of the few local bands who write, produce, self-release, perform gorgeous down-tempo pop rock music which has as much intensity as any heavy metal rock band out there. Fortunately for us, Sarah’s vocals are elegantly velvet-smooth.
  • The LA band first garnered success with their self-released “Close Down The Woods” EP which gave birth to several songs that have grabbed spots on local radio rotation as well as numerous television spots.
  • They recently released a lengthy EP’s worth of mesmerizing covers of songs by artists such as INXS, Lykke Li, Joe Jackson and more. The track “Exiled State of Mind,” (an intellectually beautiful reinterpretation of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind”) off of the EP titled “Shapes and Variations” made it all the way up to #2 on my Top 20 Covers of 2010 list. (You can watch the video, too.)
  • Although they have been touring, releasing and performing non-stop, they found no reason to stop writing new material which is now why we have their latest album, Plans In Progress. (Out 2/15) “On/Off The Ledge” has already received critical acclaim and we can only expect Robotanists’ success to grow with the release of the album and this residency.
  • The residency will feature a live light installation by artist, singer and friend, Dan Grayson (of Yes Means Yes and The Secret Language).
  • ALL SHOWS ARE FREE!!!!!!! (Doors at 8pm, 21+)

Here is why you should always check back with Wild Tonic every Monday in February…

  • Wild Tonic will be premiering a brand new song off of Plans On Progress on February 7th – the first night of their residency.
  • Wild Tonic will have fun contests on the site, Facebook and Twitter where prizes will include download cards, Robotanists merch and what else – more music!
