Job Description

We are looking for a Director of Procurement who will be responsible for directing all vendor negotiations, and relationships. This position is responsible for directing all vendor negotiations/relationships; purchasing of materials, supplies and equipment.  Incumbent will work with various teams to determine inventory control levels and provide forecasting to accounting/finance and management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Manage purchasing and inventory control staff to assure quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transportation costs and related responsibilities associated with raw materials purchasing meet company guidelines and expectations
  • Evaluate and recommend enhancements of finished goods storage, shipping processes and inventorying of WIP (work in progress) and completed finished goods
  • Evaluate vendor pricing, quality standards and turn-around times in a JIT (just in time) environment. Recommend and implement changes and enhancements as appropriate
  • Control inventory turns to assure optimum timing for production needs and with lowest on the floor raw goods volume
  • Prepare raw materials and finished goods forecasting in conjunction with Sales and Marketing
  • Research alternate raw goods vendors and packaging options to reduce costs while assuring the highest level of quality
  • Oversee the management of inbound and outbound shipments
  • Oversee tracking and reporting of waste, spoilage, shortages and overages of materials and finished goods
  • Control processing of damaged goods claims with vendors
  • Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate or pricing
  • Evaluate substandard, defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up on undelivered goods
  • Assure proper approval levels are procured based off of Purchasing Approval Policy
