The National: Bloodbuzz Ohio (Diwon remix)
So you’re going to either hate me or love me for this one. There is no doubt that The National is one of the greatest live bands and every single one of their albums have been nothing less than epic but have you ever reimagined any of their songs… remixed? I know, I know. The National isn’t a band one would normally think of when it comes to remixes but guess what? Remixes for The National do exist and I can’t help but keep listening to them simply because they’re different. I’m quite aware of the fact that we can shake our rumps to the original renditions by The National but aren’t you curious to hear what Matt Berninger’s rich baritone vocals sound like up against some hard-hitting beats?
I’ve got two for you and what do you know… They’re both remixes of the two singles, “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” and “Afraid of Everyone.” Check them out. Don’t be so quick to judge. You might like them more than you think you will…
The National: Afraid of Everyone
Some bands like to create certain intervals of time between teasers from an upcoming album. Fortunately, The National isn’t painfully teasing us because they’ve recently released another track from High Violet. Hot on the heels of “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” we now have the pleasure of treating our ears with the new track, “Afraid of Everyone.”
Personally, I think the first track has a bit more gumption but the second track is only making me more excited for the album release on May 10th. Take a listen to it below!
The National: Bloodbuzz Ohio
What is there not to love about the band, The National? If their last album, Boxer, didn’t pull you in with those rich, deep baritone vocals of Matt Berninger weaving in and out of their robust arrangements, you’ve got another chance to dive into this ear candy.
The National is slated to release their upcoming album, High Violet, this spring on May 10th via 4AD and if it’s even half as good as the last album, it’ll probably get a lot of spins from me. The album’s lead single, “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” is a nice reminder of what this band can do and some pretty good foreshadow of what the album will be like.
